How Long Does It Take to Get SPC Flooring From China to Your Warehouse 2024
One of the first questions importers ask is how long the whole process takes from placing an order to receiving the container at their warehouse. The total time is usually 40 to 60 days depending on the season, shipping route, and how fast you respond to factory communications.
Here is the step by step timeline.
Step 1 Order Confirmation 1 to 3 Days
After you place an order, the factory issues a proforma invoice and confirms the production schedule. This is usually done within 1 to 2 working days. If you have custom requirements such as special colors or packaging, allow an extra day for specification confirmation.
Step 2 Production 15 to 25 Days
Standard production for SPC flooring takes 15 to 25 working days from the date you pay the deposit. The actual time depends on the factory's current workload, the complexity of your order, and the season. Summer production takes longer because factories in Jiangsu adjust working hours during hot weather. More on this in our summer production guide.
Step 3 Quality Inspection 2 to 3 Days
If you use a third party inspection company like SGS or Bureau Veritas, they need 2 to 3 days to inspect the goods at the factory. The inspection is scheduled after production is complete. You can also ask the factory to send production photos and videos for remote verification.
Step 4 Ocean Booking and Cargo Ready 3 to 5 Days
Once production and inspection are done, the factory needs 3 to 5 days to arrange container loading and transport the goods to the departure port. The freight forwarder books vessel space during this period.
Step 5 Ocean Transit 18 to 30 Days
Shipping from China to the US takes 18 to 22 days to the West Coast Los Angeles, Long Beach and 25 to 30 days to the East Coast New York, Savannah. Direct routes are faster. Transshipment routes add 3 to 7 days. The shipping schedule changes monthly, so your forwarder will advise the best available sailing.
Step 6 US Customs Clearance 2 to 5 Days
After the vessel arrives, the container goes through US customs clearance. This takes 2 to 5 days if your documentation is in order. Delays happen if the HS code is incorrect or if customs selects the container for inspection. A good customs broker can help avoid these delays.
Step 7 Local Truck Delivery 1 to 3 Days
After customs clearance, the container is trucked to your warehouse or jobsite. This takes 1 to 3 days depending on distance from the port.
Total Time Estimate
Fastest scenario West Coast, direct sailing, smooth customs: 40 to 45 days from deposit to warehouse.
Slowest scenario East Coast, summer production, transshipment: 55 to 70 days.
What Can Delay Your Order
Late deposit payment, custom colors requiring new print film, peak season October to February, Chinese New Year factory shutdown January to February, port congestion at destination, customs inspection.
How to Keep Your Timeline on Track
Pay the deposit immediately after confirming the order. Confirm all specifications before production starts. Use a reliable freight forwarder who monitors your container status. Order 3 to 4 weeks before your target delivery date to allow buffer time.
