How to Clean and Maintain MFB Flooring Care Guide
MFB flooring maintenance is straightforward. The mineral core is resistant to moisture, so spills and everyday cleaning are less stressful than with other flooring types. This guide covers proper care.
Daily Cleaning
Sweep or dust mop daily to remove grit and debris. Use a soft bristle broom or microfiber mop. Vacuum without beater bar if needed.
Damp mop with water or mild pH neutral cleaner. Do not soak the floor. Wring the mop until barely damp.
What Makes MFB Different for Maintenance
MFB does not absorb moisture. If you spill a glass of water on the floor, you can leave it. The water sits on the surface and does not penetrate the core. Even if water seeps through the locking mechanism to the subfloor, the MFB core itself is unaffected. The mineral material does not swell, warp, or soften.
The mineral core also does not support bacterial growth. Moisture trapped under the floor or at the edges will not create mold or mildew issues. This is a key advantage in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements where spills and humidity are common.
What to Avoid
Steam mops are safe to use on MFB. The mineral core does not expand from heat or moisture, so steam cleaning will not damage the floor. However, always follow the steam mop manufacturer instructions for temperature settings.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub pads. These can scratch the surface.
Do not use wax or polish products. MFB has a factory finish that should not be coated.
Stain Removal
Wipe spills immediately for best results. For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent solution. Rinse with clean water and dry.
For oil or grease stains, use a degreasing dish soap solution. Rinse thoroughly.
Long Term Care
Use door mats at entry points. Use felt pads under furniture legs. Maintain indoor humidity between 40 and 60 percent for comfort.
