What Is the Lead Time for SPC Flooring From China

Lead time is one of the first questions importers ask when evaluating a factory. Knowing how long production takes helps you plan inventory and avoid stockouts. Here is what to expect from a reliable SPC flooring factory.

Stock Color Lead Time 10 to 15 Days

Stock colors are designs that the factory produces regularly. The factory already has the decor film in inventory. No waiting time for film procurement.

Lead time for stock colors: 10 to 15 days from order confirmation. This includes production, cooling, profiling, and packing. For a full container of a single stock color, production takes about 5 to 7 days. The remaining time covers profiling, quality check, and packing.

Custom Color Lead Time 25 to 30 Days

Custom colors require the factory to purchase new decor film. The film supplier needs 7 to 10 days to produce and ship the film to the factory. After the film arrives, production takes another 10 to 12 days. Total lead time: 25 to 30 days.

The first order of a custom color is always the longest because of the film procurement. Repeat orders for the same color are faster because the film is already in stock.

Carton Design Lead Time

Carton design is often overlooked in lead time planning, especially on the first order. If the customer already has an existing carton design file, the factory can print it directly. No extra time needed.

If the customer needs a new carton design, it takes multiple rounds of communication. The factory creates a draft based on the customer's requirements. The customer reviews and requests changes. Each round takes 2 to 3 days. For a first order with a new customer, carton design alone can add 7 to 14 days.

Other packaging details like end tags and shipping marks also need confirmation. These are simpler than carton design and usually take 1 to 2 days to finalize.

Tips to reduce carton design delays: prepare your carton artwork before placing the order. Send the design file with the order confirmation. If you do not have a design yet, ask the factory for their standard template and customize the text only for the first order. You can refine the design on later orders.

Film Deposit Program

For regular customers who order the same colors repeatedly, some factories offer a film deposit program. You pay a deposit for the decor film, and the factory keeps it in stock for your future orders.

This eliminates the film procurement wait time on every order. Your lead time drops from 25 to 30 days to the same 10 to 15 days as stock colors. The film deposit is deducted from your first few orders or refunded when you stop ordering that color.

This arrangement works best for established importers who know their best selling colors and order regularly.

Factors That Can Affect Lead Time

Production season: summer months in China are hotter. Factories often start earlier in the morning and take an afternoon break. Effective production hours are slightly shorter in summer. This can add 2 to 3 days to the lead time compared to cooler months.

Order volume: a full container order is scheduled more easily than a partial order. Partial orders may wait for consolidation.

Factory capacity: during peak season September to November, factories run at full capacity. Lead times may extend by 5 to 7 days.

Chinese New Year: production stops for 2 to 3 weeks. Plan orders to ship before the holiday or wait until production resumes.

Sample Lead Time

Samples ship faster than full orders. Stock color samples are cut and shipped within 1 to 2 business days via FedEx or DHL. Delivery to the US takes 3 to 7 business days depending on the courier service selected.
